Welcome to our Home on Cape Cod!

Please enjoy our comfortable, professionally decorated home! We are sure you will find everything to make your vacation enjoyable, but we wanted to include a few suggestions as well as provide information on our home.

Bathrooms: 

Luxury towels are provided for you is you purchased our Linen Rental Package, as well as starter rolls of toilet paper, tissues and hand soap.  If you forgot to pack an item, please check the toiletries basket in the bathroom.  You will find a first aid kit in the linen closet, along with sunburn gel.

2 Queen Bedrooms:

We tucked away these rooms upstairs for privacy.  There is plenty of closet space and seating areas should you wish to escape with a good book.  Luggage racks are in each room, as well as extra towel bars inside the closet doors, or on the back of the bedroom doors.

Living Room:

You will love the beachy colors of this room and the flat screen TV.  More than 50 DVD movies are available for your use!  Perhaps you need a spot to write your postcards to friends and family, or to catch up with work or the world.  Please use our antique desk with High Speed internet access and WiFi.

Dining Room:

Nothing is better than a meal with friends and family!  You will find seating and place settings for 8, along with champagne and wine glasses.  Chargers, cloth placemats and napkins will help create a magical setting for your meal.  Light the candles and enjoy!

Kitchen:

It’s all here!  The conveniences of home, without skimping on quality.  Lovely dishes, stemware and flatware.  High end cutlery and pots and pans will make whipping up something special a delight.  Lobster Pot to cheese tray ~ everything a chef needs is at your fingertips.  The fridge has filtered water and automatic ice maker, so there is no need to make ice cubes each day for your beach cooler! The trash compactor means you won’t have to keep taking out the trash all week.  There is a coffee maker, toaster, blender, and food processor.  Starter supplies of paper towels included.  There are trash bags, dish washing liquid, dishwasher Tabs, etc.  Spices, olive oil, etc. are in the pantry.

2 Twin Bedrooms:

Need to tuck in the little ones after a long day at the beach?  These adorable rooms will have them off to slumber quickly, and first floor access means you can check on them while unwinding with a glass of wine!  There is a toy box, books, puzzles and games for them to enjoy, too.  Plenty of closet space! Towel racks are on the back of each bedroom door.

Out on the Deck:

Grill up your favorites on the gas Weber grill, or sip your coffee while listening to the birdsong.  Your are welcome to walk in the gardens and enjoy the hammock with a good read.  Lovely table for dining, and a bar and bar stools, too!  The hot tub is wonderful at night under the stars.  If you have never had the experience of an outdoor shower, you are in for a treat!  Follow the pathway and there is a changing area as well.  Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are in a dispenser for your use.

 

Bathrooms: 

Plenty of room for your belonging on the 4 foot long granite vanities in these freshly remodeled bathrooms.  Bath Tub and Shower in both with Kohler Rain Shower heads!  There are plenty of plush towels for the whole family of you purchased the linen rental package.  If you forgot toiletries, check the linen closet or vanity drawer baskets where there are sample size for your use.

In the Garage:

BIKES:  Please use our 5 adult bikes and explore the bike path.  The Cape Cod Rail trail is a paved byway that runs for 25+ miles through the Cape.  Don’t forget to use the helmets that are provided.  There is also a tire pump should the tires need some adjusting.

BEACH ITEMS: Chairs, umbrella, Boogie Boards, cooler, toys, etc.  It all here!  Just pack a picnic, grab the lotion and towels, and check out the beach section of this book to find your favorite!

TENNIS RACQUETS: There are 4 tennis rackets for your use.  The courts are located on Oak Street near the children’s Play Ground

Things to Do

What to do?  It’s all here for the best vacation ever!

Beaches:  book and keep it in your car.  Here are our favorites:There are dozens in the area, so try a new one each day!  Take one of the maps in the back of this book.

  • Closest:   Bank Street Beach, Harwich – just 2 miles from the house.  Lot’s of parking, and rest rooms available.  This Nantucket Sound beach has mild waves and warm water.  Good for all ages.  Fee/sticker for parking required.  Lot’s of sea shells!
  • Best for Small Children: Skaket Beach, Orleans.  Rt 6 East (toward Provincetown), Exit 12.  Left at first light and follow signs.  Fee for parking.  Rest rooms and snacks available.  This Bay side beach has no waves and when the tide is out there are miles of shallow tidal pools for wading, walking and playing.  Sunset is great, too!
  • Idyllic Cape Cod: Forest Beach, Chatham.  Rt 28 East, to Forest Beach Road.  Not a lot of parking, so plan to arrive early.  No facilities, but Free parking.  Enjoy the sailboats moored off shore bobbing in the warm Nantucket Sound waves.  Grab your chair and beach read. Lot’s of sea shells.
  • Big Waves, Awesome Atlantic: Nauset Beach, Orleans.   Rt. 6 to Exit 12.  Fee for parking, facilities, Clam Shack for snacks.  This large beach has the big waves for body surfing.  Cooler waters than the others, but great for walking for miles or for surf fishing.

Enjoy 25 miles of paved bike trails, which is perfect for a family outing.  There are some bikes in the garage, but you can also rent them in Harwich (with kiddie trailers, a bicycle buit for two, etc.).  You can ride up to the trail by taking a right onto Route 124, and picking it up at Headwaters Drive, or park at the bike rental shop at The Bike Depot, 500 Depot Street, Harwich, MA 02645  Phone: (508) 430-4375

Golf:  Cranberry Valley Golf Course.  http://cranberrygolfcourse.com/    183 Oak Street, Harwich

Phone: (508) 430-5234.  Just around the corner from our home is this reknown 18 Hole Golf Course.  Take a left onto Route 124, a left on Harwoods (Just after the Dunkin’ Donuts), and a left onto Oak Street.  Call early for Tee times for this Golf Digest 4 star rated course.  Club rental available.

 

Shopping:  Downtown Chatham, Antiques on 6A in Brewster

Main Street Chatham has nearly a mile of unique boutiques and restaurants!  Check out the Candy Manor for some homemade fudge, or our favorite shop Yankee Ingenuity  http://yankee-ingenuity.com/.  Don’t for get to head up the street to Chatham Light House!  Route 6A in known for it’s many antique shops tuncked away in old barns and quaint framhouses.  Downtown Harwichport has some cute shops for an afternoon stroll.  Cape Cod has some of the best shops around!  Explore and find your favorite!

Restaurants/Fish Pier/Ice Cream:  Local restaurants with great food include The Oyster Company, Hot Stone Saloon, Ember, fresh seafood at the Dennisport Lobster Company, Ruggie’s for Breakfast and homemade ice cream at Sundae School.  There are loads of restaurants to try, but don’t forget reservations in the peak summer months as tables fill quickly.  Please see our separate listing of our favorite places!

www.theoystercompany.com – Located at 202 Depot Street, Dennis, The Oyster Company has their own Oyster beds for the freshest oysters ever!  Great seafood and a quaint atmosphere!

www.orleansinn.com  The Orleans Inn – waterfront dining – great food and service

www.hotstovesaloon.com  Located right is downtown Harwichport, they offer great burgers and clam chowder while watching the Red Sox play!

www.dennisportlobster.com  Located at 422 Rt. 28, Dennisport (In Benny’s Shopping plaza)  So you want a lobster dinner without all the hassle of cooking it yourself and restaurants are just too crowded.  Give this place a call a few days prior at (508) 394-2065 and they will steam and crack your lobsters for you.  Just pick up some stuffed Quahogs, a quart or 2 of Cape Cod’s BEST Clam Chowder (Captain Parker’s), and toss a salad at the house.  This will be a feast with little effort and will be perfect out on the back deck.

Movies:  One of the last remaining Drive-In Theaters in Massachusetts is located in Wellfleet, and Dennis has a movie theater for your enjoyment.
